Dear Memories,
It was to me just another night at club. Club was fine, but there were always the old boys there and nobody new and special. At least I didn't think so then, Max, Dick and Ed had called me over to play ping-pong. Well there I was with that darn tight black skirt on walking over to play with them, when a voice a ways behind me said "hello there" thinking it was Sterling or one of the boys I knew that I had seen standing in a huddle, I turned around and with the best smile I had, said "Hi-There"!! Well what do you think, it wasn't Sterling, or any of the boys I knew wither. It was that sailor friend of Sterling's. Being embarrassed and a little indignant (I guess) I walked away to play my game of Ping-Pong
After a while when I was trying to get a cup of hot chocolate this sailor introduced himself as Frank (Frank W. Butler Jr.) He asked the usual questions, what school I went to and where I lived. Thinking he wouldn't remember it, and (really hoping a little he would,). I said quickly CL71331. Then with a good bye, and I'll call sometime, or see you at school he left with Sterling and some girl from club. That was Thursday night. On Friday night about an hour before I left for work, he called and asked if her could take me to work. Well who was I to refuse, even though I didn't care for him too much. Before I knew it, there I was whizzing along in a brand new 47 ford. After work he picked me up, and we took Darlene home and then went driving. The night really turned out swell, even though when we went to Bob's we ate with about five of Frank's boyfriends.
Our first dance was on March 17, when we went to a Saint Patrick's day dance at St. Bernard's. It was really fun. |
