Hi,
I wanted to update you all on our recent move!  Marco and I just mover to Castiglione di Sicila, Sicily.  It is a tiny town near the Eastern coast of Sicily.  It has an actual population of about 1,500 people.  It’s situated on the top of a hill around a medieval castle.  It has strong roots; remnants of its medieval and fascist history can still be seen in its society today. 

There are 12 churches here, and each one is absolutely stunning.  Although only 1,500 people remain here today, the town was once very large and very wealthy.  Today, many noble families still live here.

The town is very close to some great tourist places.  It’s situated on Mt. Etna, an active volcano.  It's about 10 minutes from the Gole Dell’Alcantara, an ice cold river where you can go white water rafting, canyoning and swimming.  It’s about 30 minutes from Taormina and Giardini Naxos, two very popular seaside resort towns. It is also very close to Isola Bella, one of the natural wonders of Italy.

The food here is amazing!  The closest grocery store is a town away, so we live very naturally!  All of the meat, vegetable, fruit and grains we eat are 100% organic :D.  The town is famous for hazelnuts, almonds, oranges, cherries, olive oil, tomatoes, fresh cheeses and much, much more!

Marco has just begun his role here as Commander at the Carabinieri (Military Police) Station.  There are five carabinieri, including him, and they have one car.  I am working for Bus2Alps, a student tour operator based in Switzerland and Italy.  I work completely from home, and I occasionally travel for work.  We will be in this little town for about 2-5 years.
